Evidenced Based Treatment
One of the main treatments we provide is Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), which many experts consider to be the gold standard in treating childhood disruptive behaviors as hundreds of studies over 40 years have shown PCIT to be nurturing and effective.
Parent-Child Care Protocol
We also provide Parent-Child Care (PC-CARE), developed at UC Davis Children’s Hospital. PC-CARE can be completed in 6 treatment sessions, has been shown by research to have a greater rate of improvement than PCIT in that time period, and was created to be flexible and tailored to each family’s strengths and values.

All Treatment Options
Locations & Home Treatment Options
We offer in-person as well as a hybrid online option. In both cases, the child always receives in-person intervention directly from their parent while the therapist watches through a laptop and coaches the parent in the play and behavior therapy skills through an earpiece.
With the hybrid and home treatment model, the therapist remains at the office, but the family receives real-time support from the comfort of their own home where behaviors are usually the most difficult. Many families prefer online therapy because it saves time and money on driving and child care for siblings during appointments.
Hybrid services are available throughout California & Oregon. In-person appointments are available in our Claremont office. See map below.
Additional Options
Hamilton Family Counseling also offers Parent Only Strategy Sessions where parents can ask questions and get on the same page with quick, practical parenting solutions that both parents agree on.
And our Online Parenting Bootcamp teaches the principles of PCIT and PC-CARE in a support group atmosphere from the comfort of your home.
