Hamilton Family Counseling specializes in providing Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) for anxious and disruptive behaviors in children ages 1-10, specifically for those in foster care and their foster, adoptive, or reunifying biological parents.

PCIT empowers caregivers with a special set of play therapy skills to transform past stressors into resilience, and equips caregivers with behavior strategies that are nurturing and effective.

Treatment can be done entirely online, even with a parent at another location than the child, so long as the child’s social worker consents and the current custodial caregiver agrees to facilitate weekly online sessions at the child’s location.

We provide PCIT for children in foster care at a rate of $10 per session. Caregivers will need to coordinate with the child’s social worker. Social workers can find instructions for requesting services on the Professionals page.

This service is only available in California at this time. For children in foster care in Oregon or any other part of the country, families can find resources here. Parents and caregivers can complete an Initial Contact Form to inquire about eligibility and availability.
