Educational Therapy
At Hamilton Family Counseling we specialize in teaching parents educational therapy strategies they can use to help their children improve attention span, impulse control, frustration tolerance, peer relationships, memory, organization, and even motivation and confidence using the Parent-Child Care Parenting Protocol (PC-Care), developed at UC Davis Children's Hospital. For families with children ages 4-12.
Whether you suspect your child has ADHD, autism, anxiety, social emotional delay, challenges related to giftedness, or is a typical kid who just struggles with confidence and motivation, this group will provide strategies to help turn academic challenges as well as any related behavioral challenges into triumphs.
Academic success is not only possible, but parents can even learn to cultivate enjoyment, confidence, and independence even in their less preferred subjects.
We also offer a weekly online group, called the Academic Support Group, for parents to learn the strategies through lecture format with example videos from the comfort of their homes with other like minded parents. Children are welcome, but child participation is never required.
Groups are 90 minutes for 12 weeks with a limit of 6 families and are open to families who have completed treatment with us or whose children do not have behavioral challenges outside of academics. Otherwise, the 6 week Parent-Child Care protocol may be needed first.
All our services come with a FREE customized Therapeutic Parenting Webcourse and access to a FREE Weekly Drop-In Group valid for six months after treatment ends.
